    Travel experiences - Reviews

    Mykonos and Michael Goldsmith 2009

I’m at the end of a four day tour of Mykonos, Greece with some colleagues and friends from the states. With my experience, I can’t help but spend some time talking about the island. From the crystal clear blue water, energetic and friendly nightlife, excellent day time shopping/cuisine, and (most importantly) the Ancient ruins of the neighbouring isle of Delos, I MUST suggest Mykonos as the number one destination. This diverse source of entertainment is GUARANTEED to meet the interests of individuals from all walks of life and the native Greeks open-minded culture likely a source of their progressive ancient history opens it arms to those from all walks of life.

Before I end, I must suggest a couple spots that I found either entertaining or intellectually stimulating, in my opinion. First is the Ancient Island of Delos, built up by the Ancient Greek civilization and phenomenally well preserved. This is a must see for those interested in one of the most fascinating empires in our World’s history. Second is the scatter of Greek restaurants and vendors with comfortable range of prices.  You can find sandwiches or Gyros for as little as 2 Euros or fine dining on the range of 8 - 20 Euros. These places are found scattered throughout the shopping district lining the Mykonos ports and coastline. You can swim directly off the waterways of the main costal Mykonos village Alternatively, you can pay 1.40 Euro’s for a Bus ride to Paradise beach a traditional style Mediterranean pebbled beach with water you can see through with your bare eyes. For my trip I stayed at the family owned and operated Hotel Nazos. The Nazos' family is very welcoming, fun to be around, and gives you lots of space or, if you ask with entertain and educate you with their three generations of knowledge concerning Mykonos. They will suggest activities that pertain to whatever will ensure you have fun on an island paradise. Their hospitality is demonstrated by the regular presence of individuals who have been returning to Hotel Nazos for many years.
